Job Description

Junior Sales Engineer

Altera Recruitment Group is representing a global organisation within the sustainable energy and power generation sector in their search for a Junior Sales Engineer based in Stafford.

The successful Sales Engineer will play a key role in developing new business opportunities across renewable and natural gas markets, supporting the full sales cycle, and contributing to the company’s long-term commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities of a Junior Sales Engineer:

  • Support the management of the complete sales process from prospecting through to contract negotiation and close.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across key markets, including biomethane, biogas, and natural gas sectors.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and prepare commercial proposals tailored to customer requirements.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of potential projects to achieve short- and mid-term sales targets.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade fairs, and networking opportunities to strengthen market presence and relationships.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 1–2 years of experience in technical sales within the energy, cogeneration, or renewable sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Proactive, results-driven, and adaptable, with a passion for sustainable technologies.
  • Willingness to travel as required across the UK and occasionally abroad.

What’s on Offer:

  • Salary Range: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on experience and suitability.
  • Company Car: A company car will be allocated.
  • Bonus Structure: To be included and refined based on experience — potentially sales-based for commercially focused profiles or linked to non-sales KPIs for more technical candidates.
  • Working Hours: Standard office hours, with flexibility depending on customer and site commitments.
  • Travel Requirements: Regular travel to customer sites and meetings will form a key part of the role; this is expected for anyone pursuing a career in sales.
  • Hybrid Working: Some flexibility for hybrid working will be offered; however, as the company has made a significant investment in its office facilities, there is a strong emphasis on maintaining an engaged office culture. The role will therefore primarily be office- and site-based.
  • Career Development: Training and progression supported by an established global leader in sustainable energy solutions.
  • Culture: A collaborative and inclusive team environment that values innovation, learning, and personal growth.
  • Impact: An opportunity to make a tangible difference within the renewable energy and decarbonisation sector.
